Jazz Camp Workshop Description
The majority of the time is spent in small group sessions led
by our world-class faculty. Instead of taking notes in a theory
class or rehashing private lesson material you could get
elsewhere, you’ll learn the way jazz should be learned - by
playing with a mentor. Improvisation, arranging, history and
group dynamics are discussed, and demonstrated. Those
new to jazz will be supported as they ease into the genre.
Beginners are welcome to audit for one, two or three
days of camp sessions. All participants enjoy amazing opportunities for great experiences and musical growth.
A typical day at MSJ includes two small group rehearsal
sessions playing with a faculty member, plus :
• Midday Faculty Mini-Concerts
• Workshops, electives and instrument specific master classes
• A catered lunch
• Jam sessions and networking
MSJ is proud to partner with the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bethesda. Click here to book a room at this great hotel. Some of our faculty members will be staying here, and the Doubletree is the location of our Thursday night “Jam Session and Party”.
